Attorney Dwane M. Cates is a nationally recognized Criminal Defense Attorney, Civil Litigation Lawyer and Crisis Communication Expert.  He has appeared on Fox News, CNN, HLN, Fox Business, CNBC and  radio stations throughout the United States as a legal expert.  He, also, recently argued issues in a homicide case to the Arizona Supreme Court.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude (top 5%) from Arizona State University with a degree in Communication / Persuasion and then from the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law.  Prior to that he was a salesman.  He learned how to persuade, then he went to school to learn why what he did worked and now he is ready to put his experience and training to work for you.

In his 14 years practicing law, in the firm he founded strait out of law school, he has handled high profile criminal and civil litigation cases in Arizona Courts. Cases include the "Baby Formula Case", the "Matricide Murder Case", the "Music Therapist Case", and the "Marine Manslaughter case".

On the Civil side Dwane successfully defended the second highest ranking Thai Buddhist Monk in the United States who was wrongfully accused of rape and successfully sued the accusers for liable and slander on his behalf.  This story was covered world wide by the Thai press.  He also won a liable / slander suit where a surgeon was being defamed on the internet and received a judgment in the six figures.

He represented a tobacco company being sued by the state of Arizona under the 1998 tobacco settlement. This case was part of suits supported by the National Association of Attorney Generals and the outcome had national implications.

He represented a plaintiff that was molested by her doctor and the story appeared in Glamour Magazine.

    • Client was caught with 28 grams of Cocaine at the Immigration Checkpoint on State Highway 95 North of Yuma. Arizona. He was charged with a serious drug crime and he was on probation in California at the time he was caught. While his case was proceeding he caught another drug charge in California and was convicted. We got the prosecutor to plead the case to a probation eligible offense. The judge originally wanted to reject the plea and send him to prison.
